Spinner Topdressers from Redexim increase Operator Efficiency with new Controls

September 13, 2024

Redexim has introduced two new spinner topdressers: the Evo and the Hybrid. These spinner spreaders are equipped with an electronic control system that replaces the traditional manual control with a lever. As a result, the new topdressing machines are more efficient and easier to use than their predecessors.

The Evo has an analogue hydraulic control system, while the Hybrid has two versions: PotiPro and Vision X Control. On the Hybrid, the electronic control allows the operator to start, stop and adjust tyre speed and spread width from the driver’s seat. Thanks to the development of new technology, we have been able to replace the mechanical cable control of the spinner spreader. This allows the manufacturer to meet market demands for more efficient and user-friendly operation.

The new electronic and digital control systems offer greater precision, reliability and ease of use than mechanical systems, the manufacturer promises. They also offer greater flexibility in terms of customisation and integration with other systems.

Intuitive Control Systems for superior Performance and Convenience

The ‘Evo’ suffix stands for ‘evolution’. This range combines proven hydraulic components with analogue control technology. This makes maintenance and operation much easier. Hybrid’ stands for the combination of hydraulic drive and electronic control via a programmable logic controller (PLC). This combination ensures precise control and fast response times, allowing production processes to be optimised.

The setting of the spread rate is controlled by the opening of the shutter. The former screw stops have been replaced by high quality bolts, which can be adjusted without tools and are secured against loss with a steel cable. The new control system complies with the IP 65 standard. The use of globally available standard components ensures that spare parts can be supplied quickly and at an affordable price.

Enhanced Operator Experience with Hybrid Series

Redexim offers two new control options for the ‘Hybrid’ version that improve the operator’s experience and increase efficiency. The PotiPro provides a user-friendly, friendly way to control all key functions from the driver’s seat. The compact design and intuitive user interface allows for easy and efficient operation, with belt and disc speed adjustments made quickly and easily. The Vision X control system can also be operated from the driver’s seat.

There are up to 20 freely programmable spreading modes. This greatly increases efficiency and valuable information can be easily stored and retrieved. Manual data recording is a thing of the past. Switching from the PotiPro to the Vision X control system is very easy: the operator simply has to move the multi-pin connector. All functions are immediately available when the machine is switched on, and the control unit can be easily replaced in the event of a fault. The new spinner topdressers have a hopper capacity of 3.8 m³ (134 ft3) and a spreading width of up to 14 m (551″).

Rink DS3100 from Redexim used by the municipality of Hellendoorn

Since last autumn, the municipality of Hellendoorn has had a new Rink DS 3100, a hybrid version with the PotiPro control system. Henry Gerwers, the municipality’s all-rounder, used it this summer to maintain the municipality’s 24 natural grass pitches.

The new spinner spreader from Redexim replaces the old Nimos brush spreader. The Nimos was broken. We then hired a large spinner spreader through a contractor and found that it spread very well. In fact, with our old topdresser, some moist soil came out in lumps, which is not the case with a spinnerspreader. The big advantage is that you don’t have to drag it around, which saves time. It’s just a matter of spreading and the job is done.

With this experience in mind, the municipality started looking for a suitable disc spreader to replace the old Nimos. The Redexim sand spreader was discovered by Gerwers and a colleague during a demonstration day in Zwolle organised by Redexim distributor Van der Haeghe.

The choice was not difficult. We chose the DS 3100 because it fit within the available budget and is big enough to load enough soil so that we have to drive back and forth less and can therefore work more efficiently. The machine was delivered to the municipality by Hofstede Timmerman in Staphorst.

Gerwers had already used the new spinner topdresser once in the autumn to spread sharp sand on wet pitches. In June and July, black soil was spread on the football pitches in Hellendoorn.

This topdresser works very well because everything is hydraulically controlled. From the control box in the cab, you can easily adjust the speed of the discs and the spreading belt.

Gerwers says he knows the pitches well, so he knows exactly where he needs to spread more or just put down extra sand, for example near the sideline where the linesmen regularly walk.

Feedback on the Spinner Topdresser in the Field

Once the control panel has been set up properly, anyone can start using this spinner topdresser, according to Gerwers. Of course, it takes some getting used to, but after some trial and error, you will soon have it all under control’. He does mention one small point for improvement. It would be useful to install a small grid in the bucket, so that you can also see from the tractor cabin whether the bucket is empty. I reported it to Van der Haeghe and they will take my suggestion on board.’

Meanwhile, in Hellendoorn, the new spinner topdresser from Redexim has been hosed clean and lubricated in the shed, waiting for the next job to be done. ‘The big advantage is that with such a machine, you don’t have to drag it around anymore. That saves working time. ‘Via the control box in the cabin, you can easily adjust the speed of the saucers and the spreading belt.’
